“Natural” currently sits at the top of the iTunes Top 100 Charts. Similar to previous songs that stood out from past albums, such as “Radioactive” from “Night Visions” and “Friction” from “Smoke + Mirrors,” “Origins” sees a similar standout with “Natural.” “Only” ventures into a pop sound using repetition and rhythms which currently categorize popular music. Songs like “West Coast” and “Only” experiment with sounds outside what long-time listeners expect to hear from the group.“West Coast” takes cues from country music, with heavy use of the acoustic guitar and lyrics about heartbreak. While this extends the reach of the album by incorporating a sound for everyone, it makes the album as a whole difficult to enjoy for listeners with specific musical tastes.
